How to find the best makeup artist for your wedding
In my opinion your makeup on your wedding day is almost as important as your dress. The reason is that when you look at your pictures you don't want to look either washed out because you have poor makeup choices or a mess because you're not the most successful at applying your makeup. My suggestion is have a makeup artist do your makeup for you so you don't have to worry. When picking a makeup artist you want to pick someone with a list of references, portfolio, and extensive experience. Anyone can say they are a makeup artist. With that being said, there are plenty of photographers out there that either work with a makeup artist or have a recommendation they could give you. The best ones are usually the ones who have worked with photographers many times or with a cosmetic company. Many cosmetic companies have makeup artists in your local area. Companies like MAC makeup or Lancome' have people that are devoted just to being a makeup artist. Anyone that has a job in that line of work will more than likely know how to do basic makeup application and can do a good job worth paying for. Also, if you are working with a wedding planner he or she should know where you can find a good one if they have been in the business long. I would have trial runs with whoever you pick to do your makeup. Plus it's like getting a quote on a car; you want a couple different people to give you options. I would set up a time for a consultation visit to decide colors and how you want your makeup done and once you do that you will have a feel for each person and know who you feel the most comfortable with doing your makeup on your wedding day. Plenty people do their own makeup on their wedding day, but usually only people that have a high confidence in their ability to do it very well.
